Audi A3 fans were ecstatic when they heard the news that the new generation will receive a sedan version in the line up. There has recently been an update from American automotive journalists that the 2014 sedan variant will hit showrooms this year in the country.
The typical Audi A3 hatchback will not be released in the country it has been confirmed. However the new sedan version will more than make up for that disappointment. From images released of the 2011 concept Audi A3 Sedan, the car looks like it could be something quite special. The huge alloys are dominant. The view from all angles of the car is very easy on the eyes. When launched, the Audi A3 Sedan will in effect be a 2014 model. Although the original 3 door hatchback Audi A3 may not appeal to the American car market, this has not stopped other variants within the A3 range being considered.
This means that a five door Sportback model maybe introduced eventually. A convertible Audi A3 may also hit showrooms across the United States. With so many models you can also expect a great deal of powertrains and different engine powers amongst the vehicles. This will include a turbodiesel engine, a rarity in the United States, an electric version and plug-in hybrid car. These are indeed a long way from being developed.
Audi have placed a lot of weight on the Sedan A3’s shoulders. When you look at the images of the concept Audi A3 Sedan, you most probably are reminded of the Audi A4 Sedan. Audi see the new Sedan as an alternative to the A4. This car in particular made quite an impact when sold during the latter stages of 1990’s. It is known to those who remember as a pioneer of compact luxury vehicles, helping to kick this particular segment off.
The Audi A4 is still being sold in the United States to this day, the major difference between the sizes of the cars. That leaves a gap in the market for the Audi A3 sedan. When released, the Audi A3 sedan is expected to be the company’s second bestselling vehicle behind the Audi A4 in the United States. In 2011 Audi sold 6,561 Audi A3’s in the United States. This represents approximately a fifth of the amount of Audi A4’s sold across the country.
