Audi will release their new Q5 model in Australia in the latter part of the year. They have decided to release more information on the specifications of the model as its release is pending.

The most significant improvements go to the engine rather than the design. There will be a brand new SQ5 model added. It will be the most powerful Q5 model available for purchase. The special feature about this model is that it will be diesel powered. It’s 3.0 litre TDI engine will allow the vehicle to hit 0 – 62 MPH in only 5.1 seconds. That’s quite an impressive figure for a sizeable vehicle. Fuel economy wise, Audi have said that this particular variant will be 15 per cent more efficient.

For the first time ever Audi will be releasing the Audi Q5 hybrid, a vehicle sure to popular who are economically concerned. This particular variant will be mated to an eight speed tip-tronic gearbox. The lithium ion battery is the first ever to be put on a luxury SUV. For a car that’s supposed to emphasise economy, it doesn’t perform too badly performance wise. In only 7.1 seconds the car will be able to reach 0 – 62 MPH.

No doubt petrol fans will want to see their variant show some improvement. It’s 2.0 litre TFSI engine will have a valvelift system as well as an innovative thermal management system.

The new in Australian Audi Q5 will have various driving modes that the driver will be able to select. These allow various attributes of the vehicle to be adjusted to suit the drivers taste perfectly. Now the driver will be able to adjust the settings of the gearbox, steering and accelerator.

Safety is an all important factor in Australia and for Audi too. There are plenty of optional extras including radar adaptive cruise control, parking assistance gadgets, side assist systems and more. A “tiredness” detector is also available which pops up a warning sign if the driver is tired.
