There was plenty of speculation this time last year as to whether the Audi Q3 would make it’s way into established car markets such as the United States but the car has built such a great reputation that it has now made it’s way to the emerging car market of India.
Adding competition to the BMW X1
The Audi Q3 was introduced to the Indian car market earlier this week. The BMW X1, which has itself gained quite a good reputation in India already, will see some stuff competition from the Q3. Mercedes-Benz are yet to enter this particular segment of the market. They do not have a vehicle in their line-up that is able to compete as the moment.
Similar price to the Audi A4 Sedan
The Audi Q3 will be priced similar to their entry level Audi A4 sedan, with many experts deeming that to be a fair valuation considering the vehicle’s quality.
Minimal orders to start with
There is expected to be a great amount of interest generated from the vehicle. However that will be cooled to start with as just 500 will be created due to current conditions at the company’s German factory.
Audi confirmed that the Q3 would be released in India as it was showcased at the Indian Auto Expo in January 2012. Ever since that moment the Audi Q3 has been one of the most highly anticipated vehicles in the Indian market.
Michael Perschke, the Head of Audi India has said how he expects the Q3 to become a market leader in India. He said “The launch of the Audi Q3 is in line with our top-down strategy for India. The Q3 is immediately recognizable as the youngest member of the Audi Q family. Now we are starting the next chapter of our success story: As a true luxury SUV, the Audi Q3 leads the way for the Four Rings to enter a new segment in India, with ever increasing customer groups demanding for luxury mobility in a compact form. Every aspect of the Q3 showcases Audi technology – the body, the drive train, the chassis and the assistance and multimedia systems.
He added “Many of these elements come directly from the luxury class. At present, only 500 Audi Q3′s will be available for initial booking. We are confident that Audi Q3 will repeat the success of Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 and further consolidate our leadership position in the luxury SUV segment”
