If you want the top end version, which comes with a V10 engine along with a R Tronic transmission, that will set you back $174,850. That includes shipping and tax. Believe it or not, those prices are actually good value for money considering the great amount of equipment that comes with them.

Only 20 R8 V8 Selection Edition models will hit the American market. 30 2012 V10 Selection Editions models will be made available. Clearly they are very, very special editions.

These models will hit the market later this month. New colours of the body will be made available to choose from. These include a Daytona Gray matte colour for the V8 Selection edition. You’ll also get splendid 19 inch titanium wheels, a splitter and diffuser made of carbon fibre, red brake callipers, GT taillights and black exhaust finishers.

Inside the vehicle comes Crimson Red leather with contrasted stitching. The steering wheel is multifunctional with leather material around it. The V8 edition has a 4.2 litre engine capable of hitting a maximum of 430 BHP.

The Audi R8 V10 comes with an Iris white colour contrasted with Black body parts such as the exterior mirror. There are 19 inch wheels on this model too but this time they are bi-color E-tron wheels. Inside the cabin there are Ibis touches along with Alabaster White stitching, which really offers a great contrast.

The V10 will come with a 5.2 litre engine which is able to hit a maximum of 525 BHP.

In terms of gearbox transmissions, both come with a choice of a six speed manual or an automatic R tronic transmission.

So far in 2012, Audi have sold 558 R8 models in the United States. Considering that, the 50 special edition models is a fair number.

This will be the last of it’s generation. Next year the car will be rejuvenated under a completely generation. The car will look different and will have a different mechanical architecture.  There will be a seven speed dual clutch transmission upon the next generation. This will give the car greater acceleration. Despite that we are sure that the special editions Audi R8’s will be snapped up in no time.
