Good news for fans of top notch hybrid cars who have £65,000 going spare.
Audi confirmed the news that UK fans would be able to buy the plug-in hybrid version of its Q7 SUV, the e-tron. Q7 will be Audi’s second e-tron to be sold in the UK, and is powered by a combination of a standard combustion engine and an electric motor. In the four wheel drive Q7, the 3.0 litre V6 diesel engine and electric motor combine to give a total power of 368bhp, which is enough to get the car to 62mph in just over six seconds.
The hybrid model is a good vehicle for the environmentally aware, with a predicted CO2 emission of less than 50g/km. Using just electric power on a single, full charge, the model is expected to be able to travel up to 34 miles, and moreover it will take less than five hours to fully recharge the battery from a domestic socket.
Though it is easily the most expensive model in the Q7 range, the car’s price tag ensures it comes with an appropriately detailed set of specs. Set to come as standard includes a set of LED headlights, sat-nav and Audi’s digital virtual cockpit, as well as being compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The interior will also see a more spacious cabin and overall streamlined, improved aesthetics. The model will also include a feature called Predictive Efficiency Assistant. Being equipped to use the adaptive cruise control, data from theTraffic Sign Recognition system and the sat-nav, it can warn a driver of situations of any potential reason to reduce speed and drive more carefully – such as if a speed limit was oncoming or a sharp bend – as well as help to reduce fuel consumption by up to 10 percent.
The car will be available to order in the UK from May and expected to be delivered later in the summer, with prices starting from £65,000.
