Audi have done it again. Sales in India from January to August have grown a superb 48 per cent from January to August when compared to the same period last year.
The German luxury car giant’s overall target for 2011 was to sell 5,000. Already they have beaten that figure. For the first 8 months of this year, Audi have sold 5,406 cars in India. From January to August of 2011 the company sold 3,655 cars. Last month alone the auto maker managed to record 726 sales in total. August 2011 saw just 510 cars being sold. That alone represents a growth figure of 42 per cent.
Michael Perschke, the Head of Audi India stated his delight “The year 2012 has been remarkable for Audi in India. Our steady growth amidst the challenging market conditions in the luxury car segment is not only commendable but also showcases the faith our customers have entrusted in us. With a total of 5406 units sold this year so far, we are confident of steering towards, and potentially surpassing, our target of 8000 units this year.”
“Our customers are able to identify with our brand equity, which drives on sportiness, progressiveness and sophistication. This is fuelling our growth in India and we continue to be the fastest growing brand in the luxury car segment. We are expanding our reach and we plan to add 5 more dealerships by the end of this year to our existing network of 20.”
Audi are the biggest growing car manufacturer in the world. It’s not only India that Audi are recording a great deal of success. In the United States, Audi’s sales are increasing every month. Although the company are not achieving as many sales as their German rivals in terms of figures, they are growing faster than both. It is only a matter of time before Audi are competing with BMW for the number one spot in both India and the United States.
The new Audi Q3 has been a major factor behind the success of the company’s recent performance in India. The luxury SUV market is currently booming, with the Audi Q5 and the Audi Q7 also performing well in the sales charts. The Audi R8 and the Audi TT Coupe are segment leaders at the moment too.
