blog-t-4It has to be considered incredible that the automotive giant we know today as Audi, didn’t actually release a saloon until as late as 1965.

And that first set of offerings, the Audi F103-Series can be considered the true beginning of the modern Audi story. Amongst the sizable range were the 60, 70, 72, 80 and Super 90.

All vehicles in the F103 series were extremely similar to the DKW F102, the car that preceded it by one of Audi’s ancestral companies. Dropped however was the engine, replaced by a four-cylinder version, co-developed with Daimler-Benz in the late 1950s.

Solid engineering and a quickly established reputation for reliability meant that whilst not exactly setting the world alight when first released, the F103 range soon established a growing fanbase.
